Yago's first day of school.

Yago headed off to his first day of school today. The 6:20 am wake-up call didn't thrill either boy, but the excitement of the day won out. Here's to a great academic year for both boys!

September 7, 2009 Soccer Match: 7-2 Mountain Valley HS

Luiz scored three goals in the first half of the 7-2 victory. His goals came after the opponents were up 1-0. Beautiful runs through the middle to end up one-on-one with the keeper. Today, Yago is practicing for the first time with the team. He should be able to play on Saturday once he attends 5 practice sessions.

One day in Weld

We spent the day at our summer homes in Weld hiking a small mountain, canoeing, kayaking, and tubing behind the Waverunner. The day in Maine, though a bit chilly, remained cloudless and picture perfect. My nephew Denny drove the waverunner and my sister-in-law Pam and I had to laugh when Luiz and Yago first took off in the canoe facing one another. They very quickly mastered the canoe and paddled up our small river. Luiz had little luck with the wakeboard, but both boys enjoyed tubing... well, I think they enjoyed the speed involved. We left the lake in the late afternoon and landed at a Soccer Team dinner at Austin's home. The boys stayed there until 9pm playing soccer, foosball, and talking. Today, is Match #2 vs. Carrabec. It was a good day for all of us. (A reminder: Click on Photos to Enlarge.)

Yago Arrives & the Brothers Meet

Yago's plane came in early and we were back to Rumford by 10pm just as Connie and Luiz arrived from the soccer match.

Welcome Yago!

Luiz's match went well. The Mountain Valley High School team won 6-1 and Luiz made several assists and one goal playing center midfield.

Yago's on his way!

Yago left from Madrid at about noon in Spain and is due into Portland at about 8pm (EST, USA). His bed is made, the birthday balloon is flying (Thanks, Gayle & Kate), and the Red Sox hat and shirt... are ready to be worn.

Welcome, Yago!
Happy Birthday!

Photographs from Home....

Luiz Gustavo's Dad sent these photos from our Brazilian friend's last few days in Brasil. The Grandmothers, Mom & Dad at the airport, friends watching a soccer match with Luiz Gustavo, and family secretary Norma at home.

First Day of school

Off to school on this Thursday morning, Luiz was somewhat reluctant to have his picture taken. Actually, it was more "OH-MY-GOSH it's 6:30 in the morning and you are taking my picture!"

Today he has US History with Mr. Carver, two English classes with Mr. Alyward, a study hall, and soccer.

Tomorrow is the first official soccer match in Winthrop AND--best of all-->
Brother Yago arrives!
